Can you believe that we are heading into December already? Where has the time gone! Whether we like it or not, this means winter is quickly approaching! While the fluffy white snow provides a beautiful winter wonderland, there are some items to do around the home to prepare before the snow and colder temperatures arrive! We wanted to send you a quick Winter Home Maintenance To Do List to help you with prepping your home for the winter season.
•Remove debris from gutters — water can back up, causing leaks and ice dams or damage to your roof and siding.
•Have the roof inspected - check for any damaged shingles
•Purchase a roof rake - shovel/clear snow from your roof throughout the winter
•Drain & store hoses
•Check weatherstripping on doors and windows
•Seal cracks in foundation walls (interior and exterior)
•Inspect/clean up low hanging tree branches
•Check your deck/store patio furniture
•Winterize Air Conditioning Unit
•Bring out shovels and snow blowers (inspect to ensure they are ready to use)
Interior Tasks:
•Protect entryway flooring by using indoor and outdoor mats
•Inspect your sump pump
•Check batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors monthly
•Have your fireplace/chimney cleaned & inspected by a WETT Certified Professional
•Inspect and upgrade attic insulation and ventilation
•Properly Maintain your heating system/have it tuned up
